Scaling from 1 to 3 Clinics: What Changes and What Doesn’t

When we first decided to open up a clinic, it was the new shiny object so of course everything has to be brand new, location on point, and stylish!
Investing more than $100K to open up and as time passes, you think to yourself a year later that the investment was definitely worth it and your success would have not been possible if you hadn't invested that much into your practice.
Then fast forward to your second location, with money was tied up in various investments yet wanting to open up another location, we decided to put in the least possible amount and seeing what happens but with a knot on your throat knowing that you did not dedicate the same amount of effort and money in the first location; which in my mind equalled possible failure, however, to my surprise, in less than 4 months that practice was holding itself steady in comparison to 6 months in the first location.
Fast forward to location #3, we invested a whopping $7K and no money invested in marketing campaigns and in the first month, the clinic generated $24K! We did not do anything fancy, I usually take care of all the decorations, office setup, etc. but I was only a few months postpartum and did not have the time or energy to invest in making the office "pretty" to my OCD taste. We purchased some decent looking furniture from Amazon for no more than $2K between the furniture and supplied, set it up ourselves, and had a well established organic marketing campaign.
Moral of the story: You do not need anything fancy, top of the line furniture and equipment, and lakeside location to have a thriving clinic. What you need is a strong copy-paste office startup procedures, a team to help you carry those through, a good location near other medical offices, however, main road exposure, and organic marketing to make sure your practice succeeds.
Investing thousands of dollars in your clinic DOES NOT guarantee that you will make millions off of it.
